Designing future park improvements
Status
As of April 2026
Phase: Design
We have completed concept designs for each of the three parks (see Park Concepts section below). The next step will be to complete schematic designs.
Project overview
In February 2022 the Shoreline community passed a bond measure that included improvement to 8 parks. Those park improvements are all either complete, under construction, or soon to be constructed. In 2024, the City began a second phase of improvements to three new parks:
- Westminster Park, 709 N 150th Street
- West Echo Lake Park, 19512 Echo Lake Place N
- 192nd, adjacent to the Shoreline Park & Ride
In 2025, the City began design for a fourth new park:
Timeline
- Design: November 2024 – December 2026
- Documentation and permitting: April 2025 – December 2026
- Construction: dependent on funding, not yet determined
Park Concepts
Our landscape architecture consultant, ABLE, has completed the park concept designs for the first three parks. These concepts take into consideration:
- Community input
- The physical layout and limitations of each site
- Funding requirements
- Tree retention and critical root zones
- Critical areas
- Neighborhood impacts
Concept designs:
Westminster Park
The design for Westminster Park includes a covered picnic area, play hill, playground, play lawn, climbing feature, and plenty of seating. View the full concept design package.
Park at West Echo Lake
The design for this park includes a picnic table, lake viewing platform, plantings, and fishing pier. A combination of boardwalk, elevated walkway, and ground level path take visitors down to the lake. An ADA parking spot is included in the design. View the full concept design package.
Park at 192nd (Park & Ride)
Design for this park includes creative play areas, a covered picnic shelter, art, and accessible pathways. This design preserves the stand of trees on the west side of the property. View the full concept design package.
