As of July 2020
Online Engagement and Survey
To participate in the fight to slow the spread of COVID-19, the City has transitioned to online public engagement. We thank you for your flexibility as we amend previous engagement opportunities. The Online Engagement and Survey site is live until August 9, 2020!
Visit 175corridor.participate.online to view the design concepts we have developed for roadway, bike, and pedestrian improvements to the N 175th Street corridor between Stone Avenue N and I-5. Concepts also include intersection improvements at N 175th Street and Meridian Avenue N. Design concepts are based on feedback we collected from you in spring 2019. We want to hear what you think about these concepts before we develop the preferred design concept.
Join us for a webinar on July 29, 2020
We will also be hosting an online public meeting (webinar) on July 29 at 6:00 p.m. We will present the design concepts and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and get them answered by our project team.
If you have accessibility, translation, or interpretation needs for the webinar, please contact us by July 20, 2020 so we may properly accommodate your request. Call (206) 801–2489.

Phase 1 Community Engagement
During Phase 1 last spring, we talked with property owners, local businesses, community organizations, and people who travel on 175th Street about the 175th Street Corridor Improvements Project. We heard that developing a sidewalk network and improving traveler safety are top priorities for the community. Our team also looked at traffic, safety, and existing facilities on 175th Street. We explored potential changes to the corridor that may include ways to reduce traffic and build sidewalks and bike lanes. We also presented information about existing conditions along the corridor and shared the City’s goals, objectives, and priorities for the project. Thank you to everyone who engaged with us and shared their experiences and ideas about the project!
We invited the public to an open house on May 21, 2019 at Shoreline City Hall. The goals were for people to learn about the project and share their experiences and ideas. Participants gave feedback on the City’s goals, objectives, and design priorities for the corridor. The project team provided a brief presentation then opened the floor for questions and feedback.
An online open house was available between May 21 and June 14. We would like to thank all those who participated, whether in person or online, for contributing your ideas and experiences on the corridor.
Materials from the open house and additional project information are linked below.
Since then, we have used your feedback to develop draft design concepts that address what is most important to you.
Throughout the design process, we will be in touch with the community to gather feedback at key points.
Overview and History
The 175th Street corridor is one of Shoreline’s most active east-west arterials connecting the city’s busiest north-south roadways: State Route 99/Aurora Avenue N, I-5 and 15th Avenue NE. Shoreline has made it a priority to improve 175th Street between Stone Avenue and I-5 by making it easier and safer for all corridor users. These improvements may include measures to reduce traffic congestion, complete the sidewalk network, build on-corridor or parallel bicycle facilities, and develop an overall design that supports the anticipated growth in communities adjacent to 175th Street.
We have been working diligently to identify transportation needs to meet the demands of our growing community. Before we were thinking about project design for the 175th Street corridor, our City engineers were studying traffic patterns, reviewing safety requirements, and looking at how to make our traffic corridors more accessible for all modes of travel. Input you have provided at City Council meetings and meetings for other projects in the area have helped inform the City’s priorities and contributed to identifying 175th Street as a priority project. The 175th Street corridor project area spans the length of North 175th Street between Stone Avenue North and I-5.
City Council will consider staff recommendations and the public’s input to adopt a preferred design for the 175th Street corridor by late 2020.
