Background

Chapter 2.70 of the Shoreline Municipal Code directs that a City Council Salary Commission be established every four years to review, establish, and potentially adjust the salaries and benefits for Shoreline elected officials (the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and City Councilmembers). As an alternative to a city council adopting its own salary rates from time to time, state law (RCW 35.21.015) authorizes a city council to establish an independent salary commission, which is authorized to set the salaries and benefits of the council. The Shoreline City Council Salary Commission was last established in 2022 and has been reestablished this year.

Current City Council Salaries and Benefits

At the conclusion of the 2022 City Council Salary Commission, the Commission approved the 2022 City Council Salary Commission Final Report, which set compensation for the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and City Councilmembers for the next four years.

Meetings are open to the public and members of public may provide public comment to the Salary Commission.
