Building Codes
Washington State and the City have adopted the International Codes published by the International Code Council. The International Codes are designed for adoption by state or local governments by reference only. Jurisdictions adopting them may make necessary additions, deletions and amendments in their adopting document.
The International Code Council provides a Free Subscription Web Site. This site is designed to allow you to view the International Codes, and various archived codes for free. Please check with us for the most up-to-date code edition year and adoption date. On this site you are limited in your abilities to search and print, however all sections of the codes are available for you to evaluate. Copies of the International Codes adopted by the City are available for review through the City Clerk and Planning & Community Development.

Code Enforcement
Our code enforcement team helps ensure that properties in Shoreline follow the City’s safety, building, and land‑use rules. When we receive a complaint or observe a potential violation, staff investigate the issue and work with the property owner to bring the site into compliance.
