Meet the Parks, Recreation, Cultural Services/Tree (PRCS/T) Board

About the Board

The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Advisory Board, or Parks Board, serves as an advisory body to the City Council. The purpose of the Parks Board, as set forth in Shoreline Municipal Code (SMC) Chapter 2.55, is to provide additional resident input on park maintenance and operations, design matters, programs and services in sports, recreation and cultural activities including public art, and management of trees located in City-owned public property and in City rights-of-way. The role of the board does not extend to guidance regarding individual trees.

Pursuant to SMC 12.30.020, the Parks Board serves as the City’s Tree Board. The primary responsibility of the Tree Board is to make policy recommendations concerning the management of public trees. The role of the board does not extend to guidance regarding individual trees. 

The Tree Board was established by the City Council in 2012 in support of the City’s designation as a Tree City USA. The members of the PRCS Board also serve as the Tree Board which serves as an advisory board to the City Council.

The Parks, Recreation, Cultural Services/Tree (PRCS/T) Board meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. January through October and the first Thursday of December. The board may call additional meetings if necessary. The public is always welcome.
