Due to declining air quality and forecasts showing smoke levels reaching the unhealthy range later tonight, City, Fire, and Police representatives are postponing their National Night Out visits this evening. We are also encouraging block party hosts to postpone their block parties to a future date. Protecting the health and safety of our community, hosts, and first responders is our top priority.
Many block party hosts have already chosen to reschedule, and we expect more changes throughout the day. Staff are coordinating with hosts, City departments, and our Police and Fire partners on updated plans.
While new block party dates will vary, the City is evaluating Tuesday, August 25 as a potential evening for rescheduling gatherings and coordinated visits from City, Police, and Fire representatives. If possible, please consider holding this date for a future National Night Out event.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable National Night Out. If you’re outdoors today, please take precautions and limit exposure as AQI levels rise.
