As of April 2019
The City has an executed construction contract with Kamins Construction Inc.
Updates will be posted here and sent out to the project’s contact list. Email us if you want to be added to the contact list.
What is happening?
Construction was completed in December 2018 and the project is now in service. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on April 15, 2019, to celebrate completion of one of the first projects financed with a Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) Complete Streets Grant.
How are we paying for this?
The City received grant funding for a new sidewalk connection on N 195th St from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board. The grant funding is for filling in gaps in our complete streets network.
One gap in Shoreline’s complete streets network is the block between Stone Avenue (the Interurban Trail) and Ashworth Avenue on N 195th Street. This project will build a new sidewalk on the south side of N 195th to fill the gap. The sidewalk will connect the Interurban Trail to Ashworth Avenue N, Echo Lake Elementary, and further on to the N 195th Street trail, the pedestrian bridge over I-5, and eventually the N 185th Street Light Rail Station.
What is a complete street?
A complete street is designed and operated to ensure safe access for all roadway users including people walking, biking, riding the bus, and driving.
