As part of this pavement preservation project, new lane configurations including the addition of bicycle lanes are being considered. This would be in direct support of the Bicycle System Plan that was adopted in the 2011 Transportation Master Plan. Please note that the Bicycle System Plan will be updated in the coming years to include such bicycle facilities as the Trail Along the Rail.
Overview and History
As part of the City's pavement preservation program, this project will provide pavement rehabilitation along NE 175th Street between I-5 and 15th Avenue NE. The existing pavement in this section is failing, and needs major repair. The primary goal of the project is to improve the condition of the pavement between Interstate 5 and 15th Avenue NE. The existing asphalt roadway will be milled down and resurfaced with an asphalt overlay. The project will also include the following improvements:
- Curb ramps, sidewalks, and driveways rebuild for ADA compliance
- Pedestrian signal upgrades
- Possible changes to roadway striping, converting the existing 4 lane roadway to a 3 lane roadway (one lane each direction, with a center left turn lane).
For additional information, please see the Frequently Asked Questions. Construction is scheduled for summer 2019.
