Doris McConnell was elected to the City Council in 2007, 2011 and 2015 and as Deputy Mayor in 2019. Her term expires December 31, 2019.
Doris has been part of the Shoreline community for over 24 years. She moved to Lakewood, Washington, in 1968 when her father retired from the United States Army.
She received her bachelor’s of science degree in psychology from Washington State University.
She has served for many years in Shoreline PTA in a variety of capacities including president, secretary, treasurer and vice president at both the individual school and district level. Doris has also served on numerous Shoreline School District advisory boards and is an active Richmond Beach Community Association volunteer.
As a City Councilmember, she has served and continues to serve locally on the Regional Water Quality Committee, Domestic Violence Initiative and Seashore Transportation Forum as well as nationally on the Human Development Steering Committee and on the APAMO (Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials) board.
She enjoys church and family activities as well as outdoor recreation such as skiing, tennis and camping.
Doris has two children: her daughter, Angela, is a graduate of the University of Washington and employed with Oppulent and her son, Scott, is a student at Azusa Pacific University, studying business.
