Frequently Asked Questions
Where can my bench be placed?
Due to future master planning efforts in several Shoreline parks and saturation issues in others, new bench donations are currently being considered only at Cromwell, Echo Lake, and Twin Ponds Parks. These parks have existing benches that are eligible for adoption.
Do I get to choose the style of bench? The Parks Department will purchase new equipment and plaques to maintain consistency throughout the park and to guarantee quality. In most cases new benches will be a dark, powder-coated metal. The plaque is centered on the bench’s upper back support.
What will the plaque look like?Your donor bench includes a 2”x 10” cast bronze plaque which allows you to recognize a certain person, place or event. The plaque contains three rows: the first two rows hold 36 characters each and the third row consists of the year of installation.
How much will this cost? The cost of a new, existing, or refurbished bench including the plaque is $2,000.00. This amount is payable to the City of Shoreline by check or money order prior to the City placing the order for the bench.
How do I apply?Applications for donor benches should be submitted in writing to the Parks Department using the application below. When your application has been received you will be contacted by a member of the Parks staff who will confirm your application status and work with you to determine the location of your bench.
Term and GuaranteeThe bench and plaque are guaranteed for ten (10) years from the date of purchase. If a bench and/or plaque are damaged for any reason, repair or replacement is guaranteed by the City of Shoreline for 10 years from the date of purchase. After 10 years the donation is renewable at the future price with the right of first refusal given to the original donor. If the original donor decides not to renew or cannot be reached, the bench may be removed or rededicated at any time.
